CCA Update

Dear All (especially Scrabblers),

Please note that ELS Meeting for tomorrow will be suspended due the large number of members, half the membership, involved in the NAPFA.

Mr Adrian Tay(Our Scrabble Coach) will not be coming.  The training session will be postponed to 9 April

Students from secondary 1 and 3 who are not involved in NAPFA may use the Exam Rooms and sign out scrabble sets for practice.

Note that it is not an official training session and attendance will not be taken.

Thanks,
Ze Ming

Scrabble Competition

Dear Scrabblers,

With the individual competition over, having our individual losses and wins (congratulations to Nicholas Hong), a new challenge is ahead of ALL of us now,
On the 12th of April is the PRELIMINARY ROUND of the TEAM event for the Inter-School National Scrabble Championship 2014
Teams will be announced soon but no matter what team you guys are in, i want you guys to prepare very hard for this competition which will determine whether you will proceed to the FINALS on 20th April  (A tip from Adrian: Expectation for the minimum requirement of entering the finals, 18 wins-3 losses for the 3 games, high spread)
Make sure you guys know your 2 letter words very well and at least know basic hooks of your 2 letters and 3 letters (example: ZO front hook D, A AZO DZO etc.) Bingo stems are helpful for common bingos (SATIRE?,TISANE?,RETAIN? etc.) <-add a letter in the bingo stem will be an anagram of a 7 letter word.
And those who owe Adrian their 2 letter, and 3 letter punishment, be sure to complete them by next training

Another reminder, please check the blog regularly from now on for updates, there are going to be competitions and events happening so check the blog regularly as there may be extra training or cancelled training

Thanks,
Ze Ming XD

Meeting and Drama Update

Hi Everybody!

Please be reminded that CCA will go on as per normal tomorrow, Friday, 16 January 2014, 2.30pm to 4.30pm

Also, the following is a message from Ms Doshila.

Dear all,
Firstly a warm welcome to those of you who want to join our Drama component under ELS! We are glad to know that some of you are interested in drama.

We want to ensure that each Marist is given the opportunity to reach his full potential and, as such, we are looking for anyone & everyone who is interested to put up skit entitled "Teachers' Day- A Marist Show".

This Friday we will be auditioning for those of you who are interested to participate in this performance which will be performed as part of the English Language Assembly programme sometime in June (Term 3).

Audition details: - The audition will be about 2-5 minutes long for each performer/ group of performers. - Your audition act can be using a musical instrument ( bring your guitar/ flute/ ukulele or any musical instrument that is easy to bring around for the audition) or a song or poem, magical act, juggling act, or anything that you may want to perform or that you think will be interesting to showcase on stage. Remember, IT NEEDS TO BE A GOOD ACT and IT IS NOT about the PERFECT PITCH/ MUSICAL PIECE. - You can perform as an individual or as a group of 2-3 or up to 5, - You can bring in some props as well ( hats, magic wand, ..) to make your audition successful on Friday.

Audition Time & venue: 2:30pm on Friday 17th January, Exam Room 2.
|
Last but not least, you will be earning CCA points for the Drama component as well. Those of you who are selected will be joining the Drama Section for rehearsals and practice on Fridays subsequently.

Cheers Ms Doshila

Thank you!
